The Michel Dinoff Memorial Endowed Support Fund

The Dinoff Memorial Lecture takes place each year in memory of Dr. Michael Dinoff who was a distinguished and beloved psychology professor in UA’s psychology department. Dr. Dinoff received his BA from Indiana University in 1955, his MS from UA in 1957, and his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Tennessee in 1960. He joined the psychology department faculty at UA in 1963. He was director of the Psychology Clinic from 1965 until his death in 1982.

Dinoff authored or co-authored over 100 publications in psychology, psychiatry, and behavioral science fields. At the age of 35, he was named a Diplomat of Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. He was a fellow in the American Psychological Association, founder and director of the International Academy of Mental Health Practitioners, president of the Psychiatric Outpatient Centers of America, and president of the Alabama Psychological Association. He had many honors, awards, and distinctions.

Family, friends, associates, and former students of the late Dr. Michael Dinoff established this memorial lecture shortly after his death. May it honor the memory of this distinguished professor and further the quality of the Graduate School of experimental and clinical psychology at the University of Alabama. The Dinoff Memorial Lecture is typically scheduled for the spring semester and focuses on research in clinical psychology.
