Annual Michael Dinoff Memorial Lecture

Dr. William Pelham Jr., Director of the Center for Children and Families, Distinguished Professor of Psychology at Florida International University, will present the Annual Michel Dinoff Memorial Lecture “Should We Give Psychoactive Medication to America’s Children or Teach Their  Parents and Teachers Better Child Management Skills: A Decade of Research on Comparing, Combining, and Sequencing  Interventions for Childhood ADHD”

 

Dr. Pelham is a 1970 graduate of Dartmouth College and earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1976.  He was a faculty member at Washington State University, Florida State University, the University Pittsburgh (WPIC; Professor), and the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY, Buffalo; SUNY Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Pediatrics and Director, Center for Children and Families), prior to moving to Florida International University in 2010, where he is University Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry, and Director of the Center for Children and Families. From 2012 to 2017, he was also Chair of the Psychology Department at FIU. He remains an Emeritus SUNY Distinguished Professor of Psychology. Dr. Pelham has over 400 research publications and has had over 80 research grants (15 current). He is a highly thoughtful and prolific researcher who also is entrenched in teaching and community service, especially as it pertains to the treatment of youth with ADHD.
