Bound Copy Details

Upon completion of the doctoral dissertation, each student must supply the Psychology Department with two bound copies and an electronic copy of the doctoral dissertation.  One of the bound copies will go to the dissertation director and the other will be kept in the department office. If there are dissertation co-directors, an additional bound copy (i.e., a third) is required. These provide a very valuable resource for both students and faculty.

After the successful completion of final orals, you should submit 2 copies of your dissertation to the Graduate School. After receiving feedback from the Graduate School on your dissertation, you will need to give the Graduate School 2 final copies on 20-lb cotton bond. In addition, you should bring 2 additional final copies (3 if you have co-directors) to the Tuscaloosa Bindery, pay for them, and request a payment receipt. Contact information for the Tuscaloosa Bindery is:

2704 6th Street, P.O. Box 20323, Tuscaloosa, AL 35402-0323

Phone 800-239-2463   Fax 205-759-1659   Email tuscbindery@aol.com

The Department copies submitted to the bindery do not have to be on special paper. The Coordinator of Graduate Admissions (Ms. Mary Beth Hubbard, 348-1919) can be given as the person to call when the binding is finished. Alternatively, you may use a bindery that is more convenient to you, in which case you should mail the bound copies to Ms. Hubbard. In either case, you should bring or fax a copy of your payment receipt to Ms. Hubbard. You must present a receipt for the binding fee and an electronic copy of the dissertation to be cleared for graduation.
